VR AT HOME: BEAR RACE
A downloadable game for Windows
Who needs to spend hundreds of dollars on fancy VR hat? Not me, not you, not anyone, because we have
VR AT HOME
VR AT HOME is not really a game, it's more of a guided learning experience. With a little bit of practice anyone can learn to view 3D images/movies/games on a normal 2D screen. After you learn the sacred 3 image 3D technique, then you can try out the bonus game portion of this project: "BEAR RACE".
- So why haven't I heard of this before? Why doesn't everyone do this?
Because learning how to do this is physically painful. It's about as painful watching someone cut onions for 30 minutes.
It's honestly a bit like that hand crushing trap from Saw V. It will feel like crushing your own hand in a vice, and I'm asking you to push through the pain and keep twisting that crank on the promise that suddenly, and without warning, the pain will go away and it will become easy.
You shortly after starting the tutorial
You after finishing VR AT HOME and playing BEAR RACE
"If I weren't your friend I would have stopped doing this 10 minutes ago" - Playtester
"Holy shit that's so cool. No one will understand this until it clicks." - Same person 10 minutes later.
"My eyes hurt so bad! It feels like my eyesight is going backwards and getting worse" - Playtester
"What the fuck? It just clicked, it looks just like VR" - Same person 10 minutes later
If you try this and give up, then I will personally judge you. You can do this.
- I've learned the sacred technique of VR AT HOME, what now?
I'm so proud of you, thank you for sticking through it!
The skill you've learned is called "cross view 3d". Check out r/crossview for real life 3D photographs, and check their wiki for where to go from here :)
If you can get a hold of 3D movies most video playing software will be able to show you those movies in cross view. There aren't many games that make use of cross view, maybe you can make the first successful cross view game next jam!
